Aug. 9 – A Day’s Catch

The guys brought home a good catch! We’ll do some smokin’ when we get it all back to Bend!

Some Coho and Pinks.

Aug. 9 – The Rainforest

While the guys went out fishing (again!!) I took a hike in the woods just out of town. This being a temperate rainforest, although heavily logged, it is damp and lush with ferns and mushrooms.

A stump is nursery to a host of vegetation.

August 8 – North to Alaska!

We are in Thorne Bay, Alaska on our way to  Ketchikan on a friends Ocean Alexander 44′ Cruiser. This is day 9  of our adventure. We’ve had calm seas as we motored from Craig, on the west side of Prince of Wales island, north and over the top of the island, down the east side, until today when the weather turned. We’ll be docked here until the weather allows us to continue on to Ketchikan and eventually Seattle along the inside passage.

Aug. 5 – The Mothership

The Jupiter, the Mothership to the fishing boat the Mars.

Captain “Lady Jo” at the helm.

I took the Jupiter to McHenry Anchorage while the guys took the Mars up  Burnett Inlet to fish. They limited out!!!!!

A cooler full of Coho (mostly).

Aug. 4 – Tow Boat

The sea was flat and the sun was shining!

We rounded the top of Prince of Wales Island and had the sunniest day so far of our visit to Alaska!
