April 9, 2021 Twisted Tree(s)?

On another hike at Cape Perpetua we saw this (these?) trees.

Is it one tree with two trunks?

From the other side it looks more like 2 trees, one with roots twisted around the other, using it as a nurse tree!

April 7, 2021 Spout? or Chute?

From forest to sea. We watched waves constricted by the rocky shoreline squeezed and forced into spouts, dramatically shooting high!

April 6, 2021 Rail? Trail?

To where?

We didn’t follow, so we don’t know!

We did see definite signs of Spring! Trillium being pollinated.

April 5, 2021 Nurse Logs

These 3 trees growing in a line along the trail probably grew on the same huge ‘nurse log’, a fallen tree that offered the seedlings nutrients, water and protection from disease and pathogens, nuturing the new generation.

This tree outgrew it’s nurse log, leaving a tunnel through it’s roots.

No picture (of mine) could do justice to this Oregon Heritage tree!

April 4, 2021 Easter

This happy find on our walk says it all.
