Spuds

I made potato pancakes a few days ago, from potatoes grown in the garden here! Back in April we were here and helped put in the garden, you may remember that post; click here. And here we are 9 months later eating the produce ! I didn’t even have to weed or water! The potato pancakes (recipe and instructions gleaned from my mother-in-law Ruth just last month) were delicious.

An odd shaped spud from the garden.

We had a beautiful sunrise a few days ago, before the latest storm. In hindsight it made me think of the saying “Red in the morning, sailors take warning!” We had very clear skies today, the sun was a yellow ball going down, so we haven’t had a “Red at night, sailors delight” sunset yet.

Winter Finally Finds Us

A wintery mix in Northwest Arkansas

We went to bed last night with a light dusting of snow and awoke to a little more than that. All day was gray with occasional snow flurries of tiny little flakes that barely accumulated. This evening after the meager sun went down the bigger flakes began to fall and we have about two inches now. It lightens up and softens the landscape of brown grasses and bare trees.

Happy Birthday Mav!

Mavrik turned 3 years old today! Let’s hope those terrible twos are over!

Mavrik spent part of the day sandwiched between his two girlfriends, Dixie on the left and Lucky on the right.

Mavrik enjoyed his favorite snack of ear wax, and Lucky enjoyed the attention!

Keep the Shop Fire Burning

Time to stoke the shop woodstove to keep it warm for tomorrows chores.
